Aussie DJ crosses the pond and splashes into the American electronic dance music scene with new EP Wave Racer, hailing from the widely heralded independent imprint Future Classic, which houses acclaimed acts such as Flight Facilities and Flume, will drop his latest EP entitled, Flash Drive, early in October. 21 years-old Thomas Purcell, whose stage name is derived from an old Nintendo 64 game, is a pioneer of the future bass genre, which encompasses an unlikely marriage between flowing R&B-laden vocal leads and chord progressions, trap and dub step-inspired beats, and various bleeps and bloops from nostalgic video games of yore. wave racer Wave Racer harnesses a quirky, yet captivating sound filled with vibrant synth stabs and quick arpeggiation, culminating in soaring vocal leads combined with rapid-fire hi-hat driven trap beats.
