Artsy Label P.A.M. Collaborates with Workwear Brand Carhartt WIP

The Fall/Winter 2015 capsule collaboration represents a melding of nature, industrialism, and the supernatural. Perks and Mini (P.A.M.), a highly-respected Australian label that floats pretty much on the outskirts of the public's fashion radar, probably because its fun designs seem to be manifestations that can only result from a night of psychedelic mushroom indulgence, has collaborated with American fashion brand Carhartt WIP, a more artistic and fashion-forward interpretation of its stoic parent label, Carhartt. The only thing they seem to have in common is that they're both family-owned companies: P.A.M. was started 16 years ago by married avant-garde designers Shauna Toohey (who shot the lookbook for the collab in an abandoned mine in Tokyo where, supposedly, ghosts haunt) and Mischa Hollenbach, and Carhartt has been a family business since the late 1800s. Yet their collaboration, deemed 'Ashio Dozen,' nevertheless seems like a perfect fit — all-over mushroom prints mixed in with mandatory workwear-issue parkas and coveralls. Set to drop in retailers November 26.   Words by Brian Bui
